Ooo a new post

Wow many things have been happening lately! Anyway, the good, bad, and ugly need to be written about here.

First, the ugly. I had one business card design that I messed up myself in the ording process. It’s not so bad I still have 5 other designs that turned out well and 3 of them are very nice.

Second, the bad. In a final push to get the last remaining items of my site up and running before graduation I’ve realized how little time is left. Luckily, I have everything at a point to where all I need to do is some produciton work on a few pages and to write some final information. If I could scratch together about 15 hours I would be where I needed to be in terms of finishing this site.

Finally, the good. If I can get 15 hours in I’ll be done! Also, in researching market positioning as well as informaiton from employers I’ve found that by reducing the number of projects in my portfolio as to only include the kind of work I want to do will make my portfolio more targeted and focused. I’m thinking other types of work could be blogged to show that I do engage in other types of work for inspiration and to puch myself further in my skills…but that will require more research.

New logo! weeeeeee still needs work though. Maybe doing it in negative will work?? hmmmm Also thinking of a variation of body text, bump up the size or a little more space? And as always way too much copy writing to do. Also two of my print pieces will be up soon

Talk about thought manifesting itself. I mention code glitch and bam there it is. My posts and pages are displaying at differing height and the css is all the same!!!! This will have to wait till later.

Ok found the template tag I placed in my page.php and forgot to delete after finding I put it in the wrong place smooth!! and corrected some css issues that were a result. Still haven’t created my IE7 css file so if you’rve viewing with it too bad! This site is only live because my teachers check it see my progress. If someone else happens in here I guess they could do the same.

I still have a few pages of copy to write and need to go over the copy that is already here. Even though I feel I have the functionallity I want complete, except for addressing standards to be inclusive of IE7, It is mostly content that I will be working on from this point. Until some other code glitch bites me in the boo boo.

almost have all the hire me/about section content of the site ready to build. should be getting it all together in the next couple of days.

The about section, e-learning/customer info capture, and blog are now up. I’m also getting closer to having organized the content to be included. The process documentation and and the narrowed down version of that that will be used to educate potential clients on what I do as well as give them access to a form that will allow them to enter all the information I would need to create a first proposal and estimate.

Just hope I can find the most meaningful info to include in the customer info part. There are so many parameters to consider and I don’t want this to be an experience that takes some one all day only 10-20 mins. Effectively weeding out the looky loos and providing enough meaningful content for customers and not aggravating them with some crazy long amount of information.

Haven’t been working the visual layout and tweakin my logo so much lately. Have been gathering up marketing and process information on some key portfolio pieces to see if they are appropriate to include. And now that I understand we should be including creation documentation for our portfolios as if we were our own clients I’ve been getting that stuff together too. Uff wrangling up old documentation is no fun.

Looks like in a couple weeks I’ll have this thing looking pretty fair.
